From SOPHE National:

SOPHE journal Health Education & Behavior increases impact factor
Washington, DC – July 28, 2022 – The Society for Public Health Education’s (SOPHE) is proud to announce its flagship journal Health Education & Behavior (HE&B), received its highest impact factor (IF) ever in the history of the journal. Additionally, HE&B increased its overall ranking in the “Public, Environmental, and Occupational Health” category at 47/128.

“While we are very excited about these metrics of success and thankful to the authors, reviewers, and editorial board, our priority remains to publish the best science and practice in health promotion,” said editor in chief, Jesus Ramirez-Valles, PhD, MPH.

A journal’s IF reflects the yearly mean number of citations of articles published in the last two years in a journal. IF is commonly used to evaluate the relative importance of a journal within its field and to measure the frequency with which the “average article in a journal has been cited in a particular time period.

“I’m proud to see how much HE&B has grown in the last few years. The pandemic really emphasized the need for the kind of research the journal has been doing and the new impact factor proves how necessary it truly is,” said Amy Thompson, PhD, CHES®.

HE&B’s new impact factor is the result of a collaborative effort between its editorial team, editorial board, leadership, SOPHE members, and subscribers. Its diverse group of experts on our editorial team and the authors submitting to the journal provide a great platform to discuss research on many popular topics.
